Those expecting a proper remake of Final Fantasy X for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita should start tempering their expectations. Although we still have very little in the way of details, it's been clarified that the project Square Enix has in the works is an HD remaster, not a remake.

Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto made this clear at the recent Taipei Game Show, according to GNN (via Joystiq). The difference between "remake" and "remaster" may sound like semantics, but in fact there are entirely different expectations that come along with the two. Depending upon how you feel about FFX, the reality of this being a remaster may or may not be welcome news.

Google announced that the latest version of Google Docs for Android now works offline. Users can save documents to work on them without an internet connection, and then only update the files online when they’re connected to the internet. In addition to the improved offline mode, Google Docs for tablets now lets users view high-resolution versions of documents, making it easier and more pleasant to read files on larger display devices. The latest version of Google Docs is available on the Android Market now and can be downloaded for free.

As if EverQuest dropping subscriptions wasn't enough of a sign that the subscription-based MMO business model will eventually be replaced by free-to-play, Trion Worlds has announced it will begin allowing players to experience a good chunk of Rift's early game content for free.

It's an identical move to the one Blizzard made last summer in the face of declining World of Warcraft subscription numbers. Coinciding with the release of the 1.7 update, a version of Rift known as Rift Lite is debuting today. By signing up for a free Trion account, you will be able to play up to level 20 without any restrictions on how long you can play for. Previously the trial available would only allow for seven days of play time before requiring the game be purchased in order to continue. That was a more significant free period than WoW's (which allowed you to play for only 48 hours), though removing the time limit altogether is a smarter approach.

The Samsung Infuse 4G might have been out for awhile, and so has Android Gingerbread, but it looks like today the two finally get to meet (officially). While custom Gingerbread ROMs have already been out for awhile, AT&T has announced today that the official Gingerbread update for the Infuse 4G will start rolling out. The update brings the phone up to Android 2.3.6, which should keep people happy until an Ice Cream Sandwich update is released (if it does arrive).

The Infuse 4G Gingerbread update includes improved copy and paste functionality, redesigned multi-touch software keyboard, download manager for long running HTTP downloads, improved power management and app control, flight mode added and silent removed, new font options, Traffic widget, menu changes, new apps and more. The promotional preloaded Angry Birds has also been removed, so you’ll need to redownload it from the Market and start again.

Unfortunately the link to the Samsung page to download the update hasn’t gone live yet, but you can keep checking back to see when it finally does.

Although it was hardly the first time it had been accused of copying an existing game, accusations that Zynga had cribbed the design of Tiny Tower struck a more sensitive nerve than usual. Maybe that's because Tiny Tower is more beloved and well-known than, say, a game like Farm Town, which seems to have had a pretty clear influence on FarmVille. As expected Zynga has denied the allegations and even suggested those complaining about their games being copied are not as innocent as they would have you believe, though it still remains to be seen where Zynga has innovated on the Tiny Tower formula.

Following in the footsteps of Tiny Tower developer NimbleBit, Buffalo Studios released an infographic contrasting the recently-revealed Zynga Bingo with its own Bingo Blitz game. There are certainly similarities, though Zynga posits the reason its game resembles Buffalo's is not because Zynga copied the competition.

And in case you’re wondering what Samsung might have up its sleeves for next month, reports online have mentioned the existence of two new sequels to its current lineup of phones: the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note S. Other than the names, there weren’t any additional details to work with, though the S2 Plus has been spotted on An3DBenchXL results according to PocketNow, adding more credibility to the rumors.
- Extended joystick support implemented. Saitek X52 and Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X are now supported
- On control settings screen, “Gamepad” renamed “Xbox/PS Gamepad” and will only show up if appropriate controller is connected.
- “Joystick” renamed “Joystick/Gamepad” as most modern gamepads register as joysticks and will only show up if appropriate controller is connected.
- Only 6 default mappings put in for joysticks, down from 12. Y-axis now inverted by default. This change will not affect previously saved settings changes.
- Fixed issue on Mission 7 where the user would not always get points for destroying the CoD Temple.
- Fixed performance issues on M7.
- Shortened M1 and M7 a bit due to pacing issues.
- Shortened Prologue a bit due to pacing issues. Heroic action requirements also reduced (25 fighters -> 15)
- Further improved Atlas turret effectiveness.
- Elite AI behaviors further improved.
